Proficiency Background Services (PBS) operates as a Consumer Reporting Agency (CRA) under the regulations of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). We are legally bound to protect consumer data and ensure that consumer reports are only provided to entities that have a certified, legally recognized reason for requesting them.
Under Section 604 of the FCRA (15 U.S.C. § 1681b), a CRA may only furnish a consumer report under specific circumstances. PBS strictly enforces these regulations. We will only release a background screening report to an end-user if they certify that the report will be used for one of the following permissible purposes:
PBS does not sell background check data to the general public. Before any organization is granted access to our screening platform, they must undergo a rigorous credentialing process.
If you believe a background check was run on you without a valid permissible purpose, or if you need to dispute the accuracy of a completed report, you have the right to challenge this information under the FCRA.
